TALKS & WORKSHOPS

Learn about the incredible history of our letterforms.

I've always been facinated by written lanuguages and give talks on history based topics. I have a degree in Egyptology from the University of Liverpool which was entirely focused on Egyptian Grammar and the study of ancient languages such as Coptic. I then when on to study Archaeology at the Oxford University to develop my historical enquiry and research skills. After this I completed a Masters degree in Museum Studies to further my appreciation of objects within historical contexts and how best to interpret and present information around them.

I will be hosting talks and workshops for small groups on a variety of topics, some of which are outlined below. All talks can be adjusted in length and can be from 30 mins to 1.5 hrs. If you are interested in booking please email me and we can discuss any arrangements.

The Story of Writing
In this talk I look at the amazing development of writing using examples from English, Chinese, Latin, Cuneiform, Ancient Egyptain and many other writing systems.

With expert insights into ancient languages and how writing systems develop and change over time you will learn about the development and origins of writing and how these letterforms evolve to become the basis for written communication and printing.

If you've ever visited or plan to visit Egypt then you will get alot from your trip by understanding more about their writing.

If you are interested in how this language works or what they had to say then this is the talk for you. I've spent my life reading and researching ancient languages and I would be delighted to share some of that knowledge with you.
